Weclome to English Writing 3C
Welcome to Bill’s writing class for 2009. This blog is going to be a central hub to discuss units and topics, and where you can find details for the assignments that will be set throughout the year, and links to external sites that will help you to improve your writing.
After we cover some basics of creative writing, one of the first tasks is for you to set up your own WordPress blog and start blogging. Not just any old blogging, but learning how to write with a focus and an audience in mind. This page will link to everyone’s blog, so you can comment on each other’s writing, and get all communal-like. As the year draws on, you’ll continue to use your blogs as a place to put forward your ideas and opinions, and to share your drafts for workshopping.
In addition to blogging, we will cover some of the following topics and styles throughout the year:
- Autobiography
- Writing using the five senses
- Poetry (including the sonnet, villanelle, haiku and sestina)
- Genre Study (eg. Science Fiction, Horror, Crime)
- Author Study
- Short Story
- Scripting for stage or screen
- Journalism
- The writing project
- Issues in fiction and film (including film review)
